How Strong is Your Titanium HOW STRONG IS YOUR TITANIUM
ABOUT THE BOOK

This is the true story of the misadventures of Joey McQuaig, a middle-aged man, who a tears the cartilage in his knee. Osteoarthritis soon develops in both knees and spreads to both hips. The doctor’s orders are for total knee and hip replacements. Joey is going to be a “4 by 4.”

Amazingly, he returns to physical activity as he did…twenty years ago earlier, even though his body is older, his hips and knees are titanium. The results are comical as our survivor slips, slides, stumbles and falls-down stairs, off roofs, from ladders and out of vehicles. He learns quickly that titanium doesn’t make you Superman…or does it?

Joey, a former athlete, decides to resume jogging and begin a search for ways to renew vigor in his life. Along the way, he learns to manufacture natural pain killers and discontinues his meds. Throughout the book you learn of his simple, down-home philosophy about living life with gusto even with titanium joints.

With a chance for a renewed life, Joey’s endurance of bilateral knee and hip replacements led him to discover “to whom God has given much, much is required to give back to others.” Rather than following old and worn paths, he cuts new trails and encourages other to do the same.

This survivor learned early on “not to quit” and he doesn’t. This inspirational story moves from humorous to profound as readers are challenged to determine what is restricting their growth-physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually as they are asked, “Do you have a wish-bone or a back-bone?”

We have a final warning from Joey, “Follow doctor’s orders…and your heart as well.”

GRAND FATHER SAN

ABOUT THE BOOK

GRAND FATHER SAN is the true story of the so far life of Joey McQuaig. A middle aged man, while browsing books in a bookstore, discovers a book where you “fill in the blanks” about your life in order to give it to your grandchildren. When he runs out of room completing the blank spaces, the book is on.

What starts out as fun soon develops into some serious stuff. To tell a true story, you have to disclose some hidden truths. The author could not or would not tell all about the years as a youth because he had no recollection. Those good years as a teen are detailed somewhat in his book BUFALOES & BEATNIKS. The important years have to do with the birth, younger years, adolescence, and teen-age years of his three children.

It is during these years that the author earned the nicknames of “The Midnight Rider, The Bear, and Bullet Proof.” Although these descriptions were not necessarily true, they did serve as mantras to propel a young man who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks to places he never thought he would go.

He inserts thoughts on a divorce after 30 years of marriage. About two years before this book, he is asked by one of his grandsons, “Why did you and GiGi get a divorce?” This was a very large question for a young 8 year old to be asking a grown man. If you have ever been asked such a question, what was your response? The truth, at lease from a 30,000 foot view, was the only answer.

Everyone deserves and we do all get “second chances.” The author is getting close to being grown-up now and with his second chance he determines to find his purpose and now relate that reason to his most important of legacies, his grandchildren.

BUFFALOES & BEATNIKS

About the Book

Buffaloes and Beatniks is a historical, nostalgic narrative of the efforts of a group of young men who set aside their quest for individual glory to conduct a superb effort to achieve team glory and became the first team in 50 years of Waycross High School football to be State Champs.

It’s the true stories woven together about what really happened when a new coaching staff employed “out of the box” techniques to inform, instruct, inspire and motivate a bunch of boys, who came from all over the City of Waycross to the Georgia State Championship.

The story explains how the name of Buffaloes and Beatniks came to be applied due to the offensive speed, power and size along with the defensive toughness, rebelliousness and pride.  Together they were the “Unstoppable Force and the Immovable Object.”

The story comes straight from the “Buffaloes” mouth.  It tells how young men exposed to a pursuit of athletic excellence became champions for their entire life.  These ordinary young men learned how to do extraordinary things that were “taught on the practice field and learned in life”.

The story is relevant today.  When the principles the 1960 Bulldogs who drilled, practiced and rehearsed, are applied today to your life, you too will be a Champion.
